Laramie and I have faced a few ups and downs over the course of our relationship thus far. Both of us struggling to trust God's plan, and how to know if we're doing the right thing.

It is so hard to trust in the unknowing, and rely on something that we cannot necessarily see or understand fully. Life gets hard, and we tend to give in, think that we can take it all on, or have better solutions to our problems. Most of the time, we're running from whatever God has put on our hearts to do because it's easier to run from the hard thing and take another easy route. But when does God ever ask us to do the easy thing? I think as a culture, we think that we have to have everything figured out and we enjoy having control and comfort over our lives. But in reality, God has a much bigger and better plan for our lives than we could ever fathom for ourselves. Meaning that sometimes He is going to 'move our cheese.' We have to learn to be comfortable with being uncomfortable.

With being human, comes many imperfections. Laramie and I listened to a sermon the other day that talked about happiness versus joy in life. Happiness is fleeting while joy in the Father, is forever. We seek happiness in everyday things, people, work, school... worldly things, and as we know, this world is temporary. This is not our home. I think we fall short a lot in this temporary happiness, straying away from this big picture of having eternal joy.

We talked about how trusting that God is for us, can be a hard concept to grasp at times. It is mind boggling to try to understand the immense, incomprehensible love that He has for us. Thinking about it from our perspective, if someone wrongs you over and over again, and looks to be unable to learn from their mistakes... it doesn't make you want to be friendly towards them, or much less love them. I think a lot of people struggle in their relationship with Christ because they dwell on the wrong things they have done, and find it difficult to forgive themselves. However, we are forgiven. Again as a culture, we have to learn to put aside our worldly pride, and look to the Father for love, acceptance, and forgiveness.

Psalms 37:23 The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with His steady hand.
